Peace with Justice Sunday

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God — Matthew 5:9 (NIV)

Enon UMC Peace with Justice Sunday

In The United Methodist Church, Peace with Justice Sunday is one of six Special Sundays with offerings. On the first Sunday after Pentecost, our designated gifts become a voice for advocacy around the world. Together we strengthen God’s family with ministries that challenge structures of inequality and empower people and communities through systemic change.

This Special Sunday originated back in the 1980s and allows witness “to God’s demand for a faithful, just, disarmed, and secure world.” The United Methodist Church, with its historic commitment to peace and justice, provides leadership to this social transformation. This special Sunday is based on the idea that the way to stand for justice is to simultaneously create pathways for peacemaking, peacekeeping, and peacebuilding. It is a day to take action by funding peace with justice programs in our communities.

Combined Peace with Justice Sunday donation history (toward ministries funded by this special Sunday offering):
